Say hello to your 2017 Division III State Champions: THE MIGHTY PANTHERS OF CATHOLIC HIGH, NEW IBERIA.
We are making preparations for a few events to recognize the historic accomplishment of our 2017 Mighty Panther Football Team. This Thursday, our Division III State Champions will be recognized following our all-school Mass and at a Parade and Pep Rally in downtown New Iberia. Here is an outline of events for the day.
9:20 AM Disch Gym
Following our weekly all-school Mass, we will add our next “Peace” of the Puzzle. We will also announce our 2018 Rally Team and this year’s Students of the Year for grades 5, 8, and 12. Coach Indest will then present commemorative medals to each member of the 2017 Panther Football Team. The Division III State Championship Trophy will then be presented to the school, followed by our Alma Mater and Fight Song.
Parade and Pep Rally
3:30 PM Bus Loop
Floats may arrive at Catholic High School and decorating may begin no earlier than 3:30 PM. Float rider information and permission form can be found here. Permission must be completed by Wednesday at NOON in order to participate. ONLY approved throws will be allowed. The city of New Iberia has specified that NO BEADS OR TOOTSIE ROLLS MAY BE THROWN.
5:30 PM Main Street
Floats will depart from Catholic High no later than 5:30 PM. Each float will be supervised by at least two adult chaperones. Floats will then travel to the parade route on Main Street. At the end of the parade floats will release riders to the supervision of their parents at the Steamboat Pavilion and remain parked along the bayou side of Fulton until the end of the pep rally.
6:30 PM Steamboat Pavilion
For the safety of our students, Fulton and Bouligny Plaza will be barricaded for the duration of the celebration. No vehicles will be allowed in these areas. Please be advised that parking availability will be similar to the Gumbo Cookoff. Students will be released to the supervision of their parents at the end of the parade to start the Pep Rally at the Steamboat Pavilion at approximately 6:30 PM.
